Media and Election 2008

Barack Obama
In the political ad “90 percent” from Barack Obama campaign, it shows how the republican candidate to the presidency McCain , says that he’s not Bush but at the same time he contradicted himself in another videos and following the same ideas as Bush. In this other video McCain said that he voted 90% of the time with the president Bush even more than other republicans. He approved tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy companies and nothing for the middle class. Also they keep sending $10 billions a month to Iraq knowing that the Us economy struggles. This ad is targeting to the community but specially the followers of McCain and people who really wants changes. It was effective because it showed the two version of McCain, and people could see that before election start he was acting in a whole different way than now. It would probably be to gain the vote of the community.

Media and The Election of 2008

Jonh McCain
In the political ad “Fight” from John McCain’s campaign, he explains that the past 8 years things haven’t gone well. Most of the families are in bankrupt and have to pay a lot of taxes. He said that he would make the next 4 years better with the plan he have created. McCain plans is developed in 3 main ideas, rebuilt the savings, low the investment, and get energy independence. Energy independence really mean that we should drill here in US and create a renewable energy economy. He said that lower taxes and saving would protect people’s jobs and create new ones that would restore the country again. This ad is targeting to the community and specially the civil workers, that are one of the most injured in the falling of the economy. This ad is not effective enough, since that McCain don’t give details of how he is going to make his plan works.

Debate Entry

Vice Precidential Debate
Sarah Palin, the Republican governor of Alaska, and Joe Biden, the Democratic senator from Delaware fronted each other in the Tuesday night debate. During the Vice Presidential debate candidates discuss from war in Iraq, same sex rights, family values, and economy. Joe Biden makes important point as the idea of finding and alternative way to make energy. Senator Biden support also the safe, environmental friendly drilling away from the coast, to prevent the contamination of the water. Also support renewable energy, biofuels, and clean coals. The democrat candidate touched a lot of important themes and always stayed calm. He also mentioned how good friend of McCain he was but at the same time undercover lots of bad things about him, as his decision of voting 20 times against the alternative energy sources. Sarah Palin unlike Joe Biden was kind of nervous and Insecure the whole debate. She answered with incomplete sentences and didn’t gave to many details and her answer weren’t to convincingly. Palin explained that her arty support capping carbon emissions and other alternative resources as nuclear energy and drilling. She said that the chant of the republicans campaign was “drill baby drill” because people were hungry for the domestic sources of energy. Something that would contribute with the global warming.

Science Entry

Energy is an important issues in the election 2008 because its one of the mayor problems we facing today’s day. The gas price is too high and candidates are trying to find a way of lower it. Everyone is concern about it, so people are listening to the candidate’s ideas of how to solve it, in order to vote for them. My opinion is that US should find a way of make oil or use any other type of fuel to use it as energy, instead of trade or buy it form other countries. It's because the country spend a lot of money on it, and it would be a better way of save money and at the same time take care of the nature. McCain and Obama’s ideas of bringing oil to the country have a lot differences but also similitude. Obama wants to use alternate resources while McCain wants to drill. Both share the same idea of making it in US, instead of buying it and exported it from other countries. The most important is to really find an alternative to this problem that help us but at the same time don’t damage others, that’s one of the reasons why I agree the most with Obama’s idea.
